July 23, 2007, 03:28 AMThis was a good lesson. I'm glad Zhang Liang finally let loose on LiLi. However, it seems unjust that even though LiLi is the real problem, her ending is happiest: marrying the handsome millionaire and moving to Australia. Therefore, Xiaohu and I have begun a chain story that picks up after LiLi and Liu Xiang land in Australia (The Zhang Liang and LiLi story continues?post). LiLi is in big trouble and in need of some more kindhearted c-pod users to write her out of grave danger. If you care and/or have time, please contribute to the story. If enough people contribute, John and Jenny have promised to videotape themselves acting out the entire zhangliang and LiLi story and post it on youtube for us to enjoy! (Well, ok, not really, but that sounds like a really cool idea, doesn't it?) C-pod you do give us Chinese on "our terms" right? So, I hereby declare that officially "my terms" for Chinese learning includes John and Jenny videotaping themselves acting out the ZL, LiLi story and posting it on youtube for us all to enjoy. If not, I'll possibly 告状 you for false advertising:) 我很期待你们的表演！

June 14, 2007, 08:11 PMDave, I'm impressed with your clever use of characters. But you can make it all Chinese - i.e. 后否手。 John - I'm glad you confessed you don't like LiLi. She is a divorce waiting to happen. Since Zhang Liang didn't have the 胆子 to break it off, he's lucky she left him. I totally agree with LostinAsia that we need to have a series with the undercover agent in Black Market Gun Deal. Come on! I'm begging you! Please?! I believe there is a grassroots movement among C-podders for an action series with a cool action hero! John, Ken, and Jenny only you can make our language learning dreams come true. Aric's gone, so you're going to have to try harder to be cool and separate yourselves from those geeky language learning sites and p-casts.

May 10, 2007, 01:56 AMVery cool lesson! I especially liked the the fighting sound effects at the end! Lots of useful vocab. I hope I show restraint in using some words, but nonetheless it's great to be able to understand when someone's cursing at you or understand what your taxi driver is saying.

April 17, 2007, 02:00 AMJohn, I'm open to the possibility that you guys may not choose one of the above three options and instead go for the obvious alternative, which is to have a funky-cole-madina-crying-game type ending in which ZL shockingly discovers that LiLi is really a man! I leave it up to your creative judgement.

I also noticed you look rather blue, you may want to go to the doctor:) Actually, I'm not a huge Terintino fan. I just want this to be a good drama, and a good drama needs conflict. Even Walt Disney shot Bambi's mom.

April 15, 2007, 12:00 PMGreat lesson! It's amazing what vocabulary you get to learn when the drama of a lesson increases! Now, I'm sure we haven't seen the last of these two. And it seems to me there are two options for the future: 1) a mushy reconciliation or 2) an increasingly bitter feud. Chinesepod, I beg you! Please do not have these two get back together! I don't want to learn mushy gushy vocab. Plus, even if they got married, divorce is inevitable in 2 years or less. So, I have taken the liberty to outline a few plot lines. Feel free to choose anyone of them, they are not copyrighted. 1. Liu Xiang realizes how she treated Zhangliang, so rejects her, too. Li Li realizes that her singleness is her own fault cause she's a total jerk and then falls into a sea of depression and becomes suicidal. Her friend has to talk her down from a ledge. The function tag could be "talking someone down from a ledge." 2. Zhangliang loses face by being falsely accused of being a "two-timer". So, he launches an all out smear campaign against Li Li, calling her a promiscuous tramp. Li Li then informs Liu Xiang about his dishonoring lies. Liu Xiang uses his wealth and connections to hire a hitman to "whack" Zhang Liang to protect Li Li's honor. ZL hears about the plot and buys a gun to protect himself. Thus, we could review our machine gun lesson vocab. 3. ZL is disgusted both by Li Li and his coworker's behavior. So he decides women are just evil. He decides to join a monastery and live a life of contemplation.

November 14, 2007, 05:17 PMI've been loving this series! I'm a big "Lost" fan. I always thought it would be cool if you did cliffhanger endings. I love them and hate them. This lesson was really good, like a good "Lost" episode. You freak out at the end like, "What? That's it!?" Leaving you thirsty for more. It's cool cause I get excited for the next installment and must listen to it as soon as it comes out. It also makes great repetitive listening. I can listen for subtle clues. Plus I like to put all the dialogue onlys in a row and listen to them all at once. Good job Chinesepod! Your creativity is really starting to blossom. I'm still waiting for my action series with a Jack Bauer type character. But JiZhou will hold me over until the writer's strike is over and you can get to it.
