To remember this, I will picture myself looking in the mirror wearing a T-shirt that reads in the front "QUIte a past I've had" (qian, past) and in the back, which I cannot see, "HOHO, dont reveal me my future" (hou, past).

生气 makes me think of the word "vent"in English, which is somehow related to being angry and ranting, and has an element of air or wind in it. So, I think of the person who is angry venting their feelings, so that the current of air arising from them ("birthing", as Fiona says) reaches the person causing the anger and disturbs their qi. As for causing a feeling, 让 rang, I think of the expression "it rings a bell": something from outside makes something inside you react, causing either a memory (in the English expression) or a feeling (in Chinese).

Thanks for the link. In my case, I always use the lessons mentioned in the "practice" tab, and they are indeed related.

Thanks a lot for that, ElijahW. Your suggestions, as always are very useful, and I have indeed started studying the expansion section before doing the exercises, and of course now they seem much easier.

What I do now with the expansion is listen to the sentences three times, hiding first the English and then the pinyin, and trying to translate them or even say them aloud in Chinese if I manage before revealing the English and pinyin again. What I have decided not to do is put those expansion sentences in my mp3 files (which I use for my walks or for commuting), since they are too hard for me right now.

And I agree about those old lessons, they are really great. I haven't tried any new content  till now, since my method right now is going through the ATWTI lessons and to the practice ones linked to them, and all seem to correspond to quite old lessons which I'm really enjoying a lot.

Hi ElijahW, I have been using Zero to Hero for a week or so now and finding it really useful when tackling the rather dry Standard book. They go almost page by page making the grammar and phonetics content clear, and I wonder if I could have been able myself to do much with the book on my own. I think if you sign up you can have a preview for free of a good number of lessons, at least in the beginners level, plus they upload quite a few for free on youtube. Their price is of course unbeatable, I bought the HSK 1-4 bundle with a discount for roughly the price a month of classes would cost me where I live. I see it as a kind of personal tutor to the exam.
