The subtitles option does not seem to exist any longer. Has this feature been removed? It seems a shame if someone went to all the trouble to create them.

The explanations in this lesson are very useful, thank you.

Joy is able to pronounce the terms in a “standard” accent when emphasizing one particular word, but her pronunciation tends to slip into dialect a bit during sentences. For the sake of learners, please make an effort to maintain “standard” pronunciation throughout the lesson. Thank you.

The video used as reference for this lesson no longer works. Please host supplementary media needed to clarify lessons on the Chinesepod website to prevent it becoming obsolete in the future.

Not nitpicky at all. I believe the staff have said that the pinyin is auto-generated, and sometimes things get missed. Both from their pronunciation and the meaning, I think it should be gòng.

How does it change the meaning or tone to say 开派对 rather than 办派对?

Hello,

Could you please explain the function of 啦 in this line?
来啊来啊,新鲜的鲈鱼啦!
lái ā lái ā, xīnxiān de lúyú la!
Roll up! Roll up! Fresh bass!

了 (and 啦) are endlessly confusing. They almost always sound natural by this point, but I'm almost never 100% sure where to use them when constructing my own sentences, or exactly what they're doing. Would it be possible to leave off this 啦, for instance, and end the sentence with 鱼? Or change it to 了? Or trade it for another 语气词? And if so, what would that change?

Thank you.

Thank you for this lesson.

Would it be possible to change the 了 in the sentence: "那儿已经躲两个人了!" ?

Such as: 那儿已经躲了两个人!

Or: 那儿已经躲了两个人了!

Would either of those two sentences be correct, and if so, how would they differ from the original sentence from the dialogue? Thank you.

I had been under the impression that 恕 was a quite formal word. In a previous Chinesepod lesson, I believe it was described as usually only used for very serious situations, such as asking forgiveness from God. Has the usage changed over the years, or is it frequently used like this, in humour? Is the speaker deliberately using an extreme term to indicate sarcasm and a lack of needing forgiveness?

Could you please explain the function of 以 in this sentence:

简单来说就是,精酿啤酒是酒厂以小规模而传统的方 式,不使用添加物,经过长时间的酿造过程酿制而成的。

Thank you.
