Try "Soup Number 5" which is soup with the um, privates of a bull. Or "betamax" which is coagulated blood of a pig.

It seems the Chinese and the Filipinos have one thing in common - we'll eat anything with 4 legs. :P

Good job with the etymology of 马虎 Changye! Seems like a good fit!

我的老师也告诉我们“马马虎虎”.. so, maybe they use it too? Well, either way, there's a funny restaurant in Shanghai that's called Daddy Huhu's.

When I went, the covers of the pirated DVDs had 'blu-ray' printed on them. hehe

I know someone who ships the pirated dvds back West, the dvds are stacked in 10s or 20s in original-looking DVD cases. Hehe.

And, if the pirated dvds don't play in the usual western players, i think they also sell generic dvd players which don't recognize regions, so it plays pretty much everything.

One thing I like about the pirated DVD stores in Shanghai is that they carry movies that aren't mainstream in the West, like art films from Europe or South American movies. Good place to find gems. :)
