I have to say, I was in Tiashan last week and have a friend there who is into moutain bike riding. We had the best time! To get to the trail we had to ride through the streets during rush hour that was a little scarry but once on the trail we were having the time of our lives. One problem he speaks Tiashan so comucations was a little weird. But all in all great trip. BTW got great waves on Hainan Island (surfing on the east side of the island during typhoon seasion is great. If  there is any other surfing china pod people out there and the locals speak Manderin and can surf really well and are not local butt heads!).....Thanks Tom....now back in San Francisco (Moss Beach Land of the Big Waves!)

OK….So I have a funny story about a Sweater Shop in Suzhou. I was shopping in Suzhou and found this great shop that all they had was shirts and sweaters. I walked in and the clerk wanted to speak English with me. We spoke English. So then I asked her if I could try on some shirts. Her looks where weird! So I asked her in my really bad Chinese. She smiled……….but responded in English you are too big! You will stretch the shirts out. I was so sad the sweaters where the best looking ones I ever saw in China! Just thought I would share this.

BTW I am not fat! I am 6ft and 175lbs…..but swim every day and my shirt size is 42-44 that is really big shoulders. At least in China they are really big. One other story…quick.. when I met my guide on one trip I asked does this hotel have a Gym….she looked at me and asked what sport I play professionally………I thought this was funny……and she pointed to my shoulders’…….lol

我打电话给你 (wǒ dǎdiànhuà gěi nǐ) 我给你打电话 (wǒ gěi nǐ dǎdiànhuà) are correct. I hear both too. but i like the (wo gei ni dadianhua) the best. It is close to english. The other day I was speaking Chinese with a customer and they said that my accent was really cute! I think it is a good thing to have a accent. Chinese people have an accent when speaking english there is no reasion we should not have an accent speaking another language. I really think an asian womans accent is really nice and it goes both ways! In a round about way using english construction of phrases is an english accent. Not a bad thing in some cases. Tom

A lot of my friends say Chinese men don't have bachelor parties because they carry on living like bachelors even after getting married.

Jenny,

Why is that so true? Chinese men still have mistresses and girls friends when they are still married and why do the women put up with that behavior.

There is an American saying. Why have hamburger out when you can have steak at home.
