啊呀,老外在中国偷得东西,是坏事!不好得迎上。

他想找麻烦。

Zhenlijiang:

With all due respect. Jenny's pronunciation of the examples that I mentioned are very much different from what all of my friends, and relatives pronounce, all of which are native Chinese Mandarin speakers, born in Mainland China. I'm talking about standard 北京口音。I've been listening to Mandarin for the past 35 years now.

What I mean in the comment above is that when Jenny saids 这间‘事儿’,[shar] instead of [shi-er] it doesn't sound natural and sounds contrived.

 谢谢。 我走了。

I want to make an observation.  Please don't take this comment negatively.

Something that I've noticed in these lessons the past couple of years.   When Jenny says 事儿 it sounds more like 'shar' and not the way Beijingers pronounce 'shi-er'.

In order words, her 华儿 doesn't sound proper and definitely not the same as pronounciated by 北方人门。 Since most Shanghaier's don't use 华儿 in their daily speech, perhaps, Jenny shouldn't either, because it doesn't sound proper coming from her.

Also the way she pronounces, 对, it sounds like 'dwei', or 'd-wei'.  Again not same 对 pronunciation as I've heard it pronounced by other native speakers.

Is Jenny's mis-pronunciation due to Shanghainese 方言? Just wondering out loud.

rjberki, Did Amber leave Shanghai with her bags packed and a vacated apartment?

我刚才看上面Amber 想念的点条子。 好像个人都想念Amber。 不是敢出去。

还有一个问题,为什么John Pasden [中/高中老师]没用中文说哪?

Amber & Clay maybe gone, but at least CONNIE is still with QingWen.  She's the Veteran of the group now, and hopefully she will remain with C-Pod for a long time.  I hope they pay her well.

Connie has been with QingWen from the get-go and plays a very important role as the grammar instructor. And she's cute and charismatic too.

I've noticed that Jenny's English pronunication and sentence structure has gotten better in the past 3 years.  I guess John's positive influence is rubbing off on her.

Sorry, but Jenny's no Amber, thank you!

Amber is gone, but her voice is still being used in the opening of QingWen.

Will Amber get royalties for C-Pod using her voice, every time the opening used?

I hope so. Amber can use the dough.

AMBER'S MYSTERIOUS DEPARTURE FROM SHANGHAI

Everyone misses Amber.  She had great charisma and her personality came through every podcast. We miss her laughter too.

But, what some of us can't figure out, why the secrecy about Amber and her departure from Shanghai?  One week she was there in Shanghai and the next week, she giving us her last Dear Amber from New York City?

Why did ChinesePod tell everyone in advance?

She was in Taipei for a number of years and in Shanghai for two years.  And then all of a sudden, she left Shanghai behind a veil of suspense?

So, is there any truth to the rumour that Amble was forced to leave China?

Good Luck to Amber, a fellow Vancouver Canuck living in New York City! If she can make it there, she can make it anywhere!
