It seems as though everybody who’s mentioned the music is talking about music that is directly related to the vocab.  I agree, that can be very useful to the learning process.  But What really got me excited about this particular lesson was the funky music at the end; after that one guy says that they can eat cake.  I replayed the lesson several times so that I could hear that part over and over again.  I laugh and dance in my seat every single time.  I don’t know who at CPod picks out the non vocab type music for the various lessons, but I’ve absolutely loved it in all the lessons I’ve heard thus far.

Thanks everybody for the quick responses and helpful explanations.  I have a clearer way of thinking about that phrase now.  I was just wondering, would it be good Chinese to also say "租自行车多少钱?", or does that sound clumsy, like something a foreigner might say?

Thanks again, everybody.

In the dialog, the first line is, "自行车怎么租?Zìxíngchē zěnme zū?", and has been translated as, "How much are bike rentals?"

I would have translated this as, "How do you rent bikes?", which doesn't really make sense.  I’m confused as to how you get “how much” from “怎么租”.  I need help, please.

I got a lot out of this Qing Wen.  Very insightful.  Loved the northern accent in the movie clip, too.  But I still struggle with understanding the northerners when the accent is that thick.

I think a good English counterpart to a384370452's adage (打肿脸充胖子) is, "to put on airs".

Thanks, Pearltowerpete!  I kind of stumbled on your response because I had forgotten I asked a question.  Your explanation really cleared things up for me.

I was wondering if CPod has any lessons that focus on R rated, adult type language--or if everything's all cleaned up, if you know what I mean.

 Thanks

In the dialog, the sentence, "什么东西?" is used.  I would have thought that the '吗' at the end of the sentence was redundant and unnecessary because the question word, 什么, had already been used.  Would it be incorrect to leave off the '' in this sentence?

In English, we use the Japanese word for his 叫声, or unique yell.  It's called a 'kiai' (气合).  The mandarin for these characters is qìhé or qi4 he2.
