Posted on: Introduce Your Name Like a Native
July 24, 2015, 06:31 AMHere I Canada my Chinese friends haven't been to helpful while I've been trying to covert my name before I go overseas. I haven't met a native speaker who can actually get their tongue around my English/ Portuguese name. My last name gets shortened to 马 anyway So I guess the association would be 马上 不是你妈妈。:). I've been using, 学友as a given name. Your lesson on Chinese names that sound odd to native speakers has me concerned and not sure how to introduce that so it doesn't sound childish

May 15, 2015, 04:00 PMGwil here's a suggestion from someone whose favourite restaurant is a Yunnan place who has the devil himself as the chef. Drink beer BEFORE you start to eat not during your meal. The heat comes from an oil in the chillies any water based beverage will spread the heat around and intensify it. If you find your getting over your head with the heat level, eat white rice. It will absorb the oil from the chillies and cool your mouth. Once the prickly ash starts to numb your mouth you'll be good. When the endorphins kick in you'll be feeling really good. Once you get accustomed to the heat you'll be craving spicy food like a pregnant woman craves pickles.

March 05, 2015, 05:42 AMI have my ipod set on shuffle with the lessons I've downloaded and listen as I commute. Yesterday I heard https://chinesepod.com/lessons/check-out-that-woman right before this one. Apparently our hero was checking out women when he noticed one woman with her zipper down. So is this an opportunity to Dashan her? :)
