Hmm...hard to describe, not that my Chinese won't improve, it does daily, but it still needs some "new input" to help words "appear" when I listen and talk to people in real life.

That's great Lantian! Your Chinese is really good. I read better than I speak or listen. It's a challenge for me when I am listening to Mandarin. I am waiting for the fruition of a future wearable technology that will display Chinese text in front of the Mandarin-speaking person with whom I am talking so that I'll understand what he or she is saying to me.

Especially the ones that don't know the word for "inspire". :(

Hi tvan and others, What I originally posted (watch out there ARE errors), was that I had just finished watching a tv program called "人鱼小姐." It's a Korean t.v. drama series, very sappy, and lots of romantic twists and turns. It plays here on Chinese t.v., dubbed and with Chinese sub-titles. A year ago or so, I first watched (and was addicted) to watching it. At the time, I really was mostly guessing what the actors and actresses were saying, and when I saw/heard a particular hanzi/word that came up often enough, I would look it up in my electronic dictionary. (The sub-titles allowed me to do that). At that time, I came here to Chinesepod, and wrote, commented about it. Connie was one of those kind people that laboured thru my scattered hanzi and Chinese and helped me out with various questions I had. Some good comments on the romantic twists and turns too! Well, the other night, just before this post, I was channel surfing and came across a re-broadcast of the show. I started watching, noting how dated their clothing looked, then all of a sudden I realized I wasn't really paying that much attention to the sub-titles, and I basically understood most of what they were saying. This made me pretty happy. (Happier than any HSK test could ever do) So I scurried over to my computer, and said so, in Chinese.
