Suggestion for off-the-wall lesson topic - sailing

November 11, 2007, 12:37 AM posted in General DiscussionI haven't had much luck with friends or dictionaries with sailing terminolgy like: types of boat - sloop, ketch...; parts - genoa, blocks, halyards, sheets...; actions - tack, jib, heave to ...

November 11, 2007, 03:41 AMThis would be a great lesson topic since, even in English, sailing has it's own vocabulary. This list exhausts my knowledge: Sailboat - fan1chuan2 - 帆船 Starboard - you4xian2 - 右舷 Port - zuo3xian2 - 左舷 I can see the lesson. "Head up, head up, we're about to jibe! (splash)." which is different than "heads up we're about to jibe (boink)"
