Say It Right Series

Studying Chinese

Posted by tamutom November 22, 2010 in the Group General Discussion.

Here is the third way of saying week: 礼拜 lǐbài. Does it have uses different from 星期 and 周?

I thought heard the teachers talking about 限 xiàn (limit/bound) as “line,” so I expected it to be the same word as used last week in ‘online’ 线 xiàn (thread/string/wire/line), but I see it is a different character. Were they saying that the words sound the same, but are different?
