Android Sync Issue

I just dowloaded an upgrade to the Android app late last week and ever since, the synchronization has been broken.

Now when I try to sync from my phone, it adds a bunch of lessons to a group I'm not subscribed to (Elementary) and doesn't add any new lessons to some groups I am subscribed to (Qing Wen; Upper Intermediate). Over the last three days, lessons from just one of my subscribed groups are appearing on sync (Beijing Standard Time).

Everything is showing up correctly in my dashboard when I use a laptop. It's just the Android Phone that's not showing my latest lessons.

Hi Peter,

I have similar problems, running Chinesepod App version 2.1.2, which has just been downloaded in the past week or so.

It is not sync-ing my latest set of lessons, which are placed there by my teacher. So I have not been able to consult my lessons/vocabulary/etc whilst I listen to it.

The first set of lessons, which were on the earlier version, was downloaded fine. But when we finished that, and she placed a new set of lessons to my "course" tab, this new lesson list did not get downloaded to my phone.

Could you please advise on what to do?

Hi Lucia,

We used your account to log in to the app on an Android device. It works. All the tabs are there, including "assigned". The assigned tab also contains lessons assigned by your teacher. But after we logged in, the app requested us to authorize the app, which suggests you have not done that. It should work now. In case, it doesn't please log in and click "authorize".

Hi Jenny,

There are four tabs on this new App version 2.1.2: Courses, Self-Study, Flashcards and Settings.

Where can I find the "Assigned" tab?

Lucia,

We recently changed the way the tabs are labelled. The lessons assigned by your teacher are now in "assigned" tab both on the site and on the mobile app. "Course" tab will contain official ChinesePod courses which students purchase in our online store. These courses are like text books, highly structured, you purchase and get life time access to them. Please check the "assign" tab.

Peter: I am using an Incredible running Android 2.2

I've gotta say, this kind of thing is why I don't have automatic updates turned on, and generally only take manual updates when I trust the developer. ChinesePod had a lot of trouble over the past year with the mobile apps, but I had the impression that quality control had improved and I could trust the updates. Lesson learned I suppose.

Sorry to grumble -- this kind of thing is frustrating.

Hi Rachel, can you tell me which version of the ChinesePod Android App you are using? Can you tell me which version of the Android mobile platform you are using? We will be releasing a new Android App later this month that should fix the various bugs in our current Android App.
