When English Language Newspapers Print Surname (Wei), How Do You Know Which Tone Applies?

Based on a quick look up, there are surnames Wei with different tones. So I guess there's no way you can tell without the actual Chinese?

There are surnames Wei with different tones and characters.

危wēi /威wēi /韦wéi /为wéi /围wéi /伟wěi /卫wèi /魏wèi 等等，都可以作surname。
