I'm not generally in favour of capital punishment but I'll make an exception in the case of people who write pin1yin1 without indicating the tones.

you've gotta start learning characters. writing in pinyin gets too confusing after a while without using characters.

Never a truer word said. Get onto characters as soon as you can. Wish i had followed this advice when I first started out. Unfortunately we are an impatient species!
