I am now going into my 3rd year of self study chinese. I listen to podcasts on the way to and from work. I practise writing pinyin along with characters and also have a good app on my phone with dictionary and voice. I start a basic chinese course in at the cultural chinese center in Calgary and am looking forward to it.

I am thinking about online classes through chinesepod. Can anyone share the experience with doing lessons through chinesepod? Thank you(xie xie 谢谢). Cody

I had a good experience.  Grace at Chinesepod is a good teacher.  She's patient, and gives good example of what Chinese words can be used in what context.  I think if anything, my challenge (in hindsight) is finding the right level at which to be taught in order to get the most out of the lesson.  I'd take it that upper intermediate has way too much grammar and new vocabulary to be gone over in a week.  At least for me it did.
