CPod Exam and Certificate
bababardwan
March 29, 2014, 11:02 PM posted in General DiscussionI'm wondering if there is a way that CPod could set exams on the site that could then result in a certificate that could be added to one's resume? I know of course there is the HSK, and I'm not discounting that, but that still involves time, money, travel to a testing centre at a specific time, and only a couple of dates or so per year. While HSK will hold more weight if one is trying to get into a Uni in China for example, some certification of proficiency from CPod may still count for something on a resume in Australia and other countries.

March 30, 2014, 11:36 PMThey could do something along the lines of the Coursera model where they issue a certificate for free, but you have to pay extra to get that certificate officially checked against your identity and a public link made available to employers.

Great suggestion. We're actively looking into creating a certificate option for the ChinesePod community. We will keep you posted on the progress of this project.

That's awesome. Thanks heaps Alex. I know it's still in development phase from what you've just said, but do you mind me asking if this will be able to be done online without having to travel anywhere, and can be taken at any time? Sorry, just eager to know [ if you are at liberty to indicate at this stage].

Dear Bababardwan,
This should be something similar to the course tests we have in the "progress" section of the site. In other words, you would not need to travel to a specific testing location to take this certificate test.
Best,
Alex

March 30, 2014, 10:25 PMI imagine that an exam leading to a credible certificate would at the very least require a human proctor. Which probably means you have to travel to Shanghai or New York at a specific time, no?
