Sending a message to a Cpod user profile

It looks as if sending a message to another Cpod user on his/her profile is not that quick or realible. Furthermore, the messages display very awkwardly as the text won't wrap and flows over everything else on the page. Is there anything I have to set in my profile to wrap the message texts?

Does anyone use the message feature for contacting others via their profile?

I don't have that problem particularly, but I wonder if there is a "Sent Items" feature - I can't usually remember what I last wrote.

I am still getting lesson announcements in email but I recently asked the staff about why messages from users are no longer forwarded to email even though my box is checked. They are changing servers due to volume of mail, and this service has been "temporarily" suspended. I was not told for how long but this has not worked since about the time we experienced the iceberg incident. RJ

What would be great is, when a user sends a message, if we could click on their username to go back to their profile to see who contacted us would be very helpful.

calkins: I have font size set to middle. This shouldn't be the root of text overflowing.

When you send a message, your email address is revealed to the recipient. If the recipient wants to reply, revealing their email address, you can just as well use email to continue the conversation. So basically sending a message says "this is my email address, can I have yours?" which is a rather convenient way of doing that when you want to.

well, yesterday I´ve send such a message (to Joachim what a coincident...or not?) and it was uploading it very slow. An empty page opend and I reloaded the page after firefox was ready (causing the message to be send a second time). Then it left me hanging on that page until I manually went to the comment section.

I've sent a few and received a few with no problems. There was no overflow of text or anything like that, and they seemed to get to me in real-time, or at least same day. What browser are you using? Can't see that your browser would be the issue, but maybe you have your font set to an unusually large size. If you want, send me a message and we could test the timing...if you haven't already tested that with someone.

Does anyone get messages written here to you also sent to the email address you use here? I used to get messages, but now if someone sends me a message here, I don't see it in my email box, and don't always pay attention the the message number on the side when I log in, since I don't always go through my connection page. Is that feature still around?

rich, In "Your Profile" page, there is a "Forward incoming messages to email address?" check-box. I assume checking this will do what you need. Of course, I don't know if it actually works, I've never been sent a message.

boran, The "Forward" check box, as well as all of them, are checked and yet in the last few weeks I got two messages yet not in my inbox where I DO get ChinesePod lesson announcements (but it seems like I don't get them EVERY day... is that a computer bug, or is the lesson announcement not getting sent every day due to human bug..err..laziness?)

rich, Joachim recently sent me a message and it did not get forwarded to my e-mail so it appears that part may not be working. Regarding lesson announcements, I do notice every now and then that my e-mail service marks these as SPAM. If you have the ability to add "webmaster@chinesepod.com" to your safe senders list (or "white list") that might help.

I can't remember the last time I received a lesson announcement e-mail. I just assumed it was because of CNY, but at the same time I would assume it's an automated e-mail, not human-sent.

It does look like it's a CPod glitch. I received a message from a user today...I got the same exact message 3 times.
