February 19, 2008, 08:13 AMHere's my hack at a rough translation. Comments/corrections more than welcome from someone with more experience with pre Tang dynasty poetry: 种豆南山下 planting beans on the slopes of the Southern Mountain 草盛豆苗稀。 lots of grass, few beans 晨兴理荒秽 Tending (理?) a barren landscape in the early morning (晨兴) 带月何锄归。 Returning home carrying hoe under moonlight. 道狭草木长 The road is narrow, and grass is long 夕露沾我衣。 Dew moistens my clothes 衣沾不足夕 This dew does not vex (不足夕) me 但使原无违。 But let my hopes (原 - for a harvest) be not in vain (无违)
