No more pinyin in Chinese Pod dictionary searches

June 05, 2008, 01:23 PM posted in General DiscussionAfter doing a Dictionary search I used to be able to get pinyin by hovering my mouse over the Hanzi character. Dunno what I have done, but I cannot get the pinyin feature to work now, English I know already and can't read a single Hanzi character.
Anyone got any ideas? (I am using Firfox 2.0.0.14, and I have the Chinespod search engine plug in)

June 05, 2008, 02:02 PMOh, I see what you mean - you're searching through the search engine plug-in, i.e through the search field in the top right corner of the browser, not through the actual ChinesePod "Look up English or Chinese" box.
You're right - that mouseover's gone for me too, in both Firefox and Safari. I suspect that dictionary is somehow "gone" in favour of the new one, although lots of things certainly haven't moved over. We seem to have half-functionality in both of them.
Er.. what is the terminology here? V3-Dictionary and V4-Dictionary? Dictionary vs Glossary?
(Looming tech issue... will these plug-ins, especially the traditional one, be updated for Firefox 3?)

June 05, 2008, 01:42 PMIs this in the example sentences that the dictionary pulls up? It still seems to be working for me - on a Mac, with Firefox 2.0.0.14. No Chinesepod search engine plug in.
I wouldn't say the glossary/ dictionary is working properly, mind you - I keep getting "There are no entry for this term" (e.g. for really basic words like "door" and "computer"), and then a dozen example sentences. But the mouseover is working properly, with both simplified and traditional characters (thank you ChinesePod!)
