Problem Displaying Characters

Hey folks

I'm having a problem having Chinese characters display properly- I'm using Safari 3.0.4 on Mac OSX Leopard.

Characters usually come up alright but it is usually in the community or lesson discussion pages where they come up funny.

...you know how you get those weird symbols- a copyright symbol, then yen symbol, a plus-or-minus here, an upside-down question mark there..

Please help!

TrevLu,

Can you try using FireFox on the same computer and see if you're having the same issue? I've not encountered many character encoding issues with Safari 3.0+. I made sure that the pages are correctly serving up the character encoding, and they seem to be, so I'm not sure what's up. FireFox has generally better character encoding support, so if there are problems with Safari and not with FireFox, it's probably Safari. If they both have problems, then it's probably the text itself.

Also, if you could give the URL of a page having problems, it would help us troubleshoot.

Thanks!

I Also use windows XP, after I installed service pack 3 my Chinese characters went to Chinese garbble in outlook express, I had to change to unicode-utf-8 to read incoming email, thus this garbbled all my existing email, the only other thing I can think of what happend is that the email is maybe being sent in different codes??
