Chinese Handwriting Paper

July 23, 2008, 01:27 PM posted in General DiscussionI picked up some handwriting paper in Atlanta's sorta Chinatown. I wanna use it to help me keep my radicals actually apart of the character. I open the book up to start practicing and I realize I have no clue how to use this. There's three horizontal lines, and then a row of squares (like the game Four Square), and then another three lines and it continues alternating like that. Do I write the characters on the horizontal lines or on the squares?

July 23, 2008, 03:03 PMThe idea is that each handwritten character should be about the same size and shape, and the squares help you to practice that. Obviously, there are exceptions, as 一 will never look very square shaped.
I've been looking for some of that paper, but I don't live near a Chinatown. Does anyone know if there are any online U.S. stores selling it? Most of the big box office stores don't have any.

July 23, 2008, 10:24 PMYou should be able to buy standard graph paper in most office supplies stores. That might work OK.

That is an awesome PDF generator. Not being fluent in German it threw me for a bit, nevertheless it is extremely useful. Thank you for sharing.

Most Chinatowns have plenty of places to buy paper for writing characters, and it's CHEAP, just a couple bucks worth will keep you busy for months!
