Private Tutoring - Price Range

1. I have the opportunity to take private one-on-one conversation as well as calligraphy classes. What's the going rate for these kinds of courses, or rather, how much will I have to pay without being ripped off or coughing up too little? (The cities in question are Beijing and bigger ones in Heilongjian.)

2. I'd also like to give English conversation classes. How much are Chinese people willing to pay for that?

Depends on your city and the experience and education level of your teacher. In Chengdu private tutoring for conversation is around 20-25 rmb per hour if your tutor is still in university up to 45-50 if you have a professional teacher or someone with years of experience.  The time spent and location also factor, and you should expect to pay for textbooks and materials on top of this.  Lots offer to 'teach' or do language exchange for free but this is often a waste of your time.
