Watching CCTV on a Mac

Can any other Mac-using poddies get this to work? I discovered this site http://wwitv.com/ last week and was happily struggling to understand CCTV's news broadcasts. But this week it doesn't seem to work. Any one any suggestions?

Wow, this is a great find!  I couldn't get it to work on my PowerBook, so I did the following:

1.  Download and install flip4mac.

2.  Close and reopen browser (I was using Firefox).

I still wasn't able to watch all channels though.  I couldn't watch CCTV-1, but I could watch CCTV-6.  It seems like some channels are having trouble downloading the content.

This would be a really great resource if all channels worked (there are 55 for China).

Yes, you're right calkins, CCTV6 is working. Must just be intermittent on some channels, because I had 1 working last week.

This is a great item for the MacUser's group.

BTW, in my first attempt, I had trouble with the sound (using Safari).

I hear so much about Macs and have always been tempted, but I have to ask you Mac guys, is it worth it to fight all the compatibility issues?

rjberki: It really depends on what you want to do. Usually there is a workaround. If you're into gaming then the Mac isn't so good, but if you're just like me and use it mainly for the internet and email then it is fine, and you don't have so many security issues. However, if you want to do more specialised things then you may have a few problems. At uni they wanted me to programme and stuff, but I just used the Unix shell to do all those kind of things. The most annoying thing I find is that the TV on-demand channel back in the UK uses some kind of PC only software.

Actually, now I recall having problems with CCTV a few months ago. I don't think I could ever get it to work. Incidentally, you can put Windows on Macs now too, rjberki, though I suppose you'd have to buy another copy of Windows.
