order of newbie lessons

August 16, 2008, 12:35 AM posted in General DiscussionHey there, is there a useful order for learning the newbie lessons once you have completed the Welcome series or do you just jump in there and learn whatever interests you? Wondering if there is an increasing level of difficultly within the newbie series I guess.... cheers, Janine

you will discover your own language learning technique with time..
mine is...
1. find a Cpod lesson that interests me
2. make flashcards out of all the vocab
3. focus on a sentence or two everyday...meaning write the characters and review flashcards in free time
By using this method, i am able to complete one cpod lesson a week!
I am now on my 20th lesson and it feels great! Again, have fun with it and start with something easy and that interests you...Cpod has a variety of great lessons about all diff topics. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

I too was a bit perplexed about starting. Actually John's blog has a list of newbie lessons to get you going. They will give you a good solid base.
After that, just dive in and enjoy!

August 22, 2008, 06:59 AMCheers folks, appreciate the pointers. The current dilemma seems to be over-enthusiasm as a result of actually being in China (Changchun)...I have been trying to learn far too many lessons at once I fear! But am having a great time. Am going to slow down a little and concentrate on learning each lesson well.
Until next time,
Janine

Your are correct. The idea is that you can indeed just jump in and pick whatever interests you. There will also be new lessons coming out all the time of course. There is no intentional prescribed order of difficulty within any given level, such as newbie. Good luck. Im sure you will have fun. CPOD has the best method available, in my opinion.
