回到从前 litterally means return to the past (like a time machine). But 回到从前 seems to be used as "going back to a previous state" and 回到过去 seems to be used as "going back on a previous action".

Speaking of time travel (时间旅行) may also create mayhem in your spoken chinese as the chinese grammar is not specific enough.

Btw, in chinese the time machine is called 时间机器 or 时光机

五月天 (the famous taiwanese group) has a song called 时光机
