Email notification and reporting inappropriate posts
Joachim
October 02, 2008, 05:05 AM posted in General DiscussionIs there a way to receive an email notification when someone replies to my posts?
Although not that often, but once in while people post some inappropriate stuff: Is it a good idea to flag things as offensive and thus report them to Cpod? Or is this over the top?

it's more like dundery lump actually. Whatever that is :) Dunder means rumble, thunder etc. Klump means lump, blob, clod etc. Dunder can also be used to boost other words e.g. dunderstark means very strong (stark=strong). Dunderklumpen is clumsy, strong, kind, humble and things like that.
See you in the forums.

December 23, 2008, 12:17 PMHi!
E-mail notification would be great.
I wrote an e-mail to the staff and asked for the "Latest Comments" box (on the lessons' page, right side) to contain more comments. That would also help. If I submit a comment and then go to sleep, it has disappeared from the list when I get up in the morning. Therefore I must go through a lot of discussion pages to see if there is a reply somewhere. That's 麻烦 ma2fan.
I hope they think it is a good idea :)

December 23, 2008, 03:14 PMi have called attention to bad stuff by simply sending a personal message to john...he and/or pete have been good about responding very quick...Pete has actually been a great watchdog lately and putting out fires all over the boards!

January 06, 2009, 02:02 PMHi rjberki
thanks for posting.
set the drop down menu
I found out about that some days after previous post. However it doesn't work the way I would like it to work... If I choose "My conversations" I will only see _my posts_, right? Not actually if anybody posted a reply in that discusion.
I've been fiddeling with Rss the last day also and I think it works OK. I subscribe to "all conversations" in the drop down menu. However, it seems like not all comments show up in my Rss reader. For example the "Testing RSS..."-comment (above) did not. Actually, it did not appear in the "all conversatins" list on cPod either. So, I don't really understand wich way is the best when it comes to checking for replies. I would be really thankful for some more help :)

January 06, 2009, 08:31 PMdunderklumpen,
sorry I mispelled your user name last time around. It was not intentional. I dont use the RSS feed for anything but catching the actual lessons so I cant comment on that. I strictly use the computer to read postings. The "my conversations" drop down choice on the comments page will provide a list of the posts you initiated and those you commented in. Choose the appropriate post and find your comment, then scan everything bleow that to look for responses. It seems to work efficiently for me, on the computer at least. Its not a direct link to responses to your comments, but it does shorten the search by a long shot. If its a question that is very important to you, I would send a PM to someone that you would expect to know the answer (like Pete for example) and he will respond directly to you. This works well. The indicator at the top right of the page always tells you if you have any private messages waiting. The staff at cpod are pretty good about responding. Sorry I couldnt be more help. Good luck going forward. We are in the right place to learn Chinese. I am convinced of that.

没关系 mei4guan1xi! Actually I usually get a good laugh when I see all the hilarious misspellings of my user name :D Maybe I should have chosen some other name. But I like dunderklumpen so...
If its a question that is very important to you, I would send a PM to someone that you would expect to know the answer
I will defenitely do that if I have important questions. However, I think it is nice to post in the comments section as well, as to share knowledge with the other poddies. Thanks again for you reply. I will try your method for a while.

January 06, 2009, 10:02 PMDK,
yes, it is nice to include all when sharing knowledge. Do whatever makes you comfortable. I only wanted to make sure you werent overlooking the drop down feature. Thanks for explaining the user name. I just thought it was a lumpy dunder :-). Whatever that is. Take care.

Maybe you are not aware that at the top of the conversations page you can set the drop down menu to show only posts that you commented on. Going back to your conversations to see if anyone has answered you is the easiest way to track responses. You do not have to go through each page that way. Hope this helps you.
