Looking for a word

I'll try and keep a long story short. I'm looking for a word that I'm fairly certain translates to 'nevertheless', and for which I believe the pinyin is 'ren ran'. The full sentence is as follows:

<!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:SimSun; panose-1:2 1 6 0 3 1 1 1 1 1; mso-font-alt:宋体; mso-font-charset:134; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:3 135135232 16 0 262145 0;} @font-face {font-family:"\@SimSun"; panose-1:2 1 6 0 3 1 1 1 1 1; mso-font-charset:134; mso-generic-font-family:auto; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:3 135135232 16 0 262145 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:SimSun;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> 虽然在美国学习中文很有意思,但我[ren ran]觉得如果不在一个自然的环境中每天说,听,读,写中文,就不能达到一个流利的境界。

Anyone have any idea what the characters I'm referring to are?

No idea what happened with the copy/paste from word, maybe this is clearer:

Bump, can really use some brief help with this. Again, I'm looking for a Chinese word -- 'ren ran', I believe, in Pinyin -- that means 'nevertheless.'

Trying to decipher something a teacher recorded for me. Thanks again.

That's it, my error was in thinking an -ng final was an -n. Thank you so much boran.

Hi Matt,

reng ran=仍然

虽然在美国学习中文很有意思,但我[ren ran]觉得如果不在一个自然的环境中每天说,听,读,写中文,就不能达到一个流利的境界。

Although I get interested in studing Chinese in America, I still argue that I would not reach the level of influency if there does not exist a daily circumstance to force me to speak, hear, read, and write Chinese.

still means 仍然.

北京强,

其实意思是相反的!可能他的中文写的不清楚。意思是:although studying chinese in the US is interesting, i still feel/think/reckon that a natural enviroment is more helpful in achieving fluency than reading, listening, and writing everyday in the US.

当然会有别的英文说法,不过意思要一模一样。

ancalagon,

nevertheless, 倒是。

我倒是觉得/认为/ 想....nevertheless, i feel/think/reckon....

他倒是没听我的, he nevertheless didn't listen/never listened to what i said/a word i said.

固然。。。。, 倒是/不过/可是/但是 /还是。。。。

given/granted ......, nevertheless.

( acknowledgment.....,contrary to ......)

他固然喜欢唱歌而表现得很精彩,不过他的嗓音我倒是认为不怎么好。granted he likes to sing and puts on a good performance, but i nevertheless think his voice isn't all that great.
