WLCP may not be working

I was informed that WLCP 2008.08.14 is no longer working.   From the error message it appears that the format of the expansion tab changed which is throwing off WLCP's parser.  I'll be looking into this issue and will hopefully have a fix for 2008.08.14 over the next few days.

Since the same issue may apply to WLCP 2008.10.19.testing, I'll be looking into that as well.

I was informed that 2008.10.19.testing is still working. This together with the fact that I have a lot of other stuff going on, means that I won't be debugging this problem in the near future.   Therefore, I encourage you to try out 2008.10.19.testing if you encounter any problems with 2008.08.14.  In my opinion, this newer version is a lot better anyway.

Slightly related to this, I have my fingers crossed that at some point Praxis will implement the features of WLCP on the ChinesePod website (and thus obsolete WLCP) so that WLCP doesn't have to indefintely play this sort of catch-up with any changes made to the web site, which led to this bug in 2008.08.14.  The fact that John joined the group a few months back got my hopes up that a ChinesePod insider might be interested in some of the features proposed in WLCP, but...

Andrew

Everything has been working perfectly up to now.  I have been using 14/08/2008 for the vocabulary and dialogue , and 14/9/2008 for the expansions.

Unfortunately for some reason,  I can only download empty folders. Have you any suggestions?

So sorry to trouble you

Jane

2008-10-19 works for me. The earlier version returns empty folders. We cant expect Andrew to chase every move cpod makes, ad infinitum.

Hi Jane,

Unfortunately, for now the best I can do is to suggest to try to make the most out of 2008.10.19, which also offers the vocabulary and dialogue.   At the very least I will try to modify the stylesheets as you suggested, as I'd also like to see the changes that you suggested two months back.

I think that I'll write a "WLCP Classic" style sheet that formats the sentences like 2008.08.14 and earlier did, for those who prefer it that way.

Andrew

The problem I had with every version is so simple and so stupid: I forgot to change my email address.  However that said 2008/09/14 version works but no longer downloads the lesson or audio review files.

Version 2008/10/19 gives five audio files but no text.  That is no problem for me, but just to let you know what I find.

I would be delighted if you gave us a style sheet like version 2008/8/14 but is it possible to include the vocabulary and dialogue?  If this takes too much time I understand.

A reminder, I need very simple instructions on how to use the sheet.

Many thanks for everything

Hi Jane,

If you want, you could run Version 2008/10/19 and email me the welovechinesepodlog.txt then I could see why it is not downloading any text files.

To install the stylesheet like version 2008/08/14, first rename your old welovechinesepod.xsl to something else.  Then download the "classic" welovechinesepod stylesheet to the same place.  This version should include vocabulary and dialogue.  Although, all versions should have all along.

Let me know how it goes :-D
