A centipede is called "百足" (mukade) in Japanese, and it literally means "a hundred (= many) feet". In modern Chinese, a centipede is commonly translated as "蜈蚣" (wu2 gong1), but there is also a Chinese saying "百足之虫,死而不僵" (bai3 zu2 zhi1 chong2 si3 er2 bu4 jiang1), which means "It may not be what it once was, but it is still first-class." I hate centipedes!

Changye,  It reminds me a low frequency Chengyu :

蜂虿有毒 (fēngchài yǒudú) "Watch the little beasts in the air and on the floor. Even if it's small, it could hurt." ;o)

Hi kimiik,

There is a similar saying in Japanese too. It's "一寸の虫にも五分の魂" (Even a worm will turn.) Its Chinese version should be "麻雀虽小,五脏俱全" (Even a sparrow has five solid organs). The most educational one for men, like us, is "玫瑰带刺(有刺)" (Roses have thorns), haha.
