December 24, 2008, 12:42 PMThe original meaning of “豆” is a kind of food vessel/pot, but not “beans”, used in ancient times. The shape of the character is similar to that of an ancient pot. And “(豊) 丰” indicates a food vessel with a lot of cereal on it, which connotes “abundant/plentiful”.
