January 04, 2009, 09:18 PM posted in General DiscussionHello all
Thank you for your warm comments before I left for vacation. I will be working at CPod full time again starting today, although today's 5:00 am starting time is due to jet-lag, not diligence.
I had a wonderful time with my family and friends in Ballston Spa and Rochester, New York. Schlepping across the state reminded me that the new administration's infrastructure repair project can't start soon enough.
And for the love of all things holy, wherever you go in the world, don't fly with 美国大陆航空公司, (Continental), which is the saddest excuse for a state-owned airline I've ever had the misfortune to ride.

January 05, 2009, 05:55 AMHi urbandweller
I will certainly make the suggestion-- we'll have a brainstorming session this afternoon, in fact.
A quick search on baidu gives 梦幻杰基 as a translation of "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars." That captures his name and the trippiness of the whole thing, but it seems like we're missing the 火星蜘蛛 ;-0
我喜歡Bowie 和 Iggy Pop合唱的歌 “The Passenger." And Faye Wong's (王菲) song of the same title but completely different style "乘客” is also a favorite.

January 05, 2009, 01:39 AMPete, do we own Continental now as well? I thought General Motors (通用汽车公司)and Chrysler (克莱斯勒汽车公司)was bad enough.

January 05, 2009, 01:39 AMPete,
I wasn't referring to my curveballs as I don't think my level of knowledge of Chinese language or culture is enough to form any curveballs, but rather was referring to the Poddie community at large. But I learn from their questions and your answers and thus look forward to it.Jiayou !

January 05, 2009, 04:32 AMHi tvan
We don't actually own Continental, but we've given it and many other airlines an awful lot of do-re-mi over the last few years.
Despite (or maybe because of?) our subsidies, the American airlines are pretty consistently disappointing.
But I have nothing but praise for 港龙航空公司 Dragon Air. Don't know how much governmental support they get, so I can't make any fair comparisons.
Hi bababardwan,
Well, regardless, your questions and comments are always good, even if they are less curvy than some ;-0

January 05, 2009, 04:43 AMHi urbandweller
Thanks for noticing!
Station to Station is one of my favorite albums. It was from his crazy Munich days, when he was surviving on cocaine, peppers and milk-- 可卡因, 辣椒,牛奶 ;-)

January 05, 2009, 05:02 AMThanks Pete.
I see the connection, and know you're also musical, but can you sing as well as Bowie? If so,you'll have to start up a show akin to FrenchPod's "Voulez-vous chanter avec moi?" He was an amazing artist.

I can't sing anywhere near as well as Bowie. Although at Karaoke, I will definitely give it a shot!

January 04, 2009, 09:23 PMWoo hoo.Good to see you back Pete. What honesty;you should have chalked the early start up to diligence [which you are anyway].Great to hear you had a fab time with family and friends and now hopefully refreshed and fully recharged to take on those challenging and curveball questions.Happy New Year mate.:)
