Ginger with coke??

hi, pretty new to the capital - wondering if you can give me some background on the coke and ginger habit?

Cold remedy:  Cut up a bunch of ginger. Heat some Coke (the soda, not the other kind) in a pot. Add the ginger to the Coke and watch it fizz and foam. Pour into a mug...drink...feel happy.

Calkins have you tried it and so is it nice to drink? I thought my ayi was joking when she said you can put ginger also in coke (in stead of tea like I normally do). Obviously she was not :-).

To be honest, I have no idea!  I just googled it.  But apparently (based on google), it seems like a popular thing in China.

Maybe Jenny can help...she's shared some of her mother's remedies in a couple of lessons before.

My (chinese) teacher told me about this the other day when I had a cold.  She was 100% sure it would help!

Also, speaking of ginger (and maybe you didn't want to know this), some women start eating ginger every morning when they hit their 30's - supposed to be good for the uterus.
