I have not used any version for a couple of months untill today, and get the issues rjberki stated on 16 Feb.

happy52: Thanks for pointing out the problem with the flash mp3 player -- I haven't yet found a way to make it work with (all!) the Chinese characters that show up in the Advanced lesson titles and filenames, so I think I'm just going to have to look for another flash mp3 player. (If you know of any good ones, do tell!)
jane: I'll see what I can do about merging the current stylesheet with a previous one (http://cds.gmu.edu/~acorriga/chinese/tb_welovechinesepod.xsl) that Andrew made.

I'm wondering how to customize the xml (or CSS?) so that I can get pinyin and literal translation included. Is there somewhere with these directions? I've looked at past links, and the new google site, but can't seem to locate anything.

February 14, 2009, 06:06 AMBrent: It's the xsl file. I think Jon may be planning to make available different xsl stylesheets. However, meanwhile if you're up for writing some XSL, you may want to see how it's done in the old xsl stylesheet I released with 2008.10.19. Based on that you could then modify Jon's new stylesheet to add back in pinyin and the literal translation.

February 14, 2009, 10:26 PMhappy52: I fixed the sound issue (as well as a problem not picking punctuation at the start of a sentence) -- there are two updated files, wlcpod.py and wlcpod.xsl, that I posted at http://math.stanford.edu/~jlee/cpod/ to replace your current versions. Hope this helps!
Brent: stylesheets (and hopefully better instructions) are coming, although I wouldn't hold your breath for them!

February 13, 2009, 12:35 AMThis version look very interesting but I need instruction on how to find the bo po mo fo version of the text. The pdf is no use to me. As I am technically illiterate and have no idea what to do with style sheets I urgently need simple instructions.

February 17, 2009, 12:29 AMIt seems the new format has created some problems with the WLCP program, as would be expected. I cant speak for the latest version since I am still using 10-19 , but I would guess all are impacted. The english translation is gone but the literal and pinyin translations remain.

Anyway, this demonstrates one major reason why it would be better if WLCP were integrated into the ChinesePod website.

February 18, 2009, 02:58 AMI believe the problem is a change that Chinese pod recently made to their fonts. It was working very well when I first tried the new update. But I just tried to download using the 1/18 version and it is also missing the fonts which wasn't a problem before.

February 18, 2009, 05:37 AMA few day ago I noticed a litle button that gave an option of simplified and tradition characters and also the option of hiding the English translation.
This seemed a very good idea at the time. However since then I cannot get any characters at all. when I submit traditional and English the characters retrun for a split second and then only English is available.
Any suggestions?

I had the same problem you're having. I'm assuming that you used to use the Firefox plug-in for traditional support on Cpod's website. This is how you can fix the problem:
- In your Firefox browser, click on the "Tools" pull-down menu.
- Click on "Add-ons"
- Click on the "Extensions" button
- Click on the "Cpod Traditional Support" extension
- Click "Disable", then restart Firefox
This should solve the problem. If not, try disabling additional add-ons.

I really love the fact that I can use it on my computer having the text in front of me then just pressing the play button and being able to hear the text written. I can still put the mp3 on my player and take it with me. So I have a choice of how I use the material.
One little problem. For some reason the flash player does not work with any of the advanced lesson. Is there is any change I can make to the settings to get it to work? It works fine with the other levels. What I mean by the flash player is there is no sound when I press the play buttons in any advanced lesson. Thank you for this program and all your hard work.
