I see so many posts with Chinese characters, and would really like to do that myself, but I do not have a program to do that.
Could someone recommend a Chinese typing program to put on your computer, that is good and cost-effective.
Thanks!

March 25, 2009, 01:06 AMThe Google IME for windows is very good for typing chinese. eg in Word, Explorer, Excel. http://www.google.com/ime/pinyin/ Here's a nice install guide in english http://www.district158.org/gzhang/Classroom%20Information%20Files/guide/Google%20Pinyin%20IME.pdf Here's a nice guide in english on all the set-up features. http://www.4learningchinese.com/view.php?url=http://scattered-notes.blogspot.com/2007/04/translation-of-google-chinese-input.html One of the nice features is that if you are on-line with a google account it constantly updates the most used phrases to make conversions of long sentences even more accurate

April 02, 2009, 06:20 AMIf you only need it for writing in your web browser, and if you use Firefox, then Fireinupt - a Firefox plugin - also works fairly well. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5420

March 24, 2009, 10:43 PMHi guikeli,
I use this site: http://de.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php In the left column click "type chinese" and then click "Mandarin Pinyin - Simplified (for students, with English definitions)".
If you run windows on a PC you can activate the support for asian languages (start->control panel->national settings...). You need a windows CD or DVD for that to work. You switch between your language and chinese by pressing [alt]+[shift].
I'm sure there are better programs, but I only know about those. Good luck!
