July 19, 2007, 12:27 AMMy very most favorite show on Chinese television is without a doubt, "馬大帥”, starring: 趙本山, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT! Another great show is a cop show called 黑洞。 Black Hole. Both of these don't have any new episodes. I hate to say it but I actually watch 超級女生。 I like it much better than American Idol. Another good Variety Show is, 超級星期天。

July 19, 2007, 03:46 AMNot a sitcom/drama, but 心灵花园 is quite good. It's a "come talk about some relationship / family problem with our TV psychologists" show, and should give you lots of vocab to talk about various inter-personal issues. It's aired M-F on 生活时尚频道 ("Young") at 9pm (I think).

July 19, 2007, 07:32 AMMy wife and I love 科技之光 (Kējì zhī Guāng). It's a German science/entertainment show dubbed in Chinese. The host poses an interesting science-related question, then offers three possible answers. The guests have to guess which answer they think it is, then the host shows which answer is correct by doing a scientific demonstration. The answers are frequently hard to guess. (The Chinese is kind of hard, but it's a lot easier in context, and the questions are written on the screen in Chinese as well as spoken.) Anyone know what show I'm talking about? Henning? Excuter?

July 19, 2007, 09:24 AMI don't watch much TV, but most people I know are always talking about recently is 超級星光大道 (chao ji2 xing guang da4 dao4).... it's basically a singing competition, similar to "american idol"... i've seen it a few times, but not too interested...

July 19, 2007, 10:18 AMI used to always watch 分洪女郎 but from that you can tell I haven been back to China in 3 years. I am really interested in knowing if they are going to be showing the Muay Thai version of the Contender on Chinese TV. It is starting at the end of this month and airing only in Asia and Europe. It looks pretty sweet but I have no Idea what language it will be in. It might be in English so it can be broadcast on something like Star Sports. 20 more days until I am back in China and am done with school here forever.

July 18, 2007, 02:15 AMTV CHINA - there are two shows that I often watch. One is like the old Cosby show in the U.S. It's called 我家有女儿。 I think I have the last two hanzi right, anyway it stands for son and daughter. I find the show interesting because it's about a Chinese family but the kids came together from parents that had previously divorced. It's basically a comedy and they speak with a northern accent, which I find helps me to maintain my 二话 accent while living in the south. It's on a lot of stations, usually during dinner hours or after 10 pm. The other we've had a podcast on and it's 武林外传。 The language is difficult and often regional, but the skits are funny and very interesting. It's on on several stations in the evenings. I have found following dramas very helpful, because you see the same characters over and over who use phrases repeatedly. Too bad I'm not into the recently broadcast Korean dramas on Chinese tv.
