Hi,I wasn't sure where to introduce myself so here looks good...

I'm new to Mandarin and ChinesePod. I've just started studying Mandarin as part of my major in uni and I think I'll need all the help I can get. ;)

I'm Australian but have been living in Hong Kong for about 3 years now. I can speak a bit of Cantonese and am already noticing many similarities.

One question I have is, how does everyone type characters into their computer? I know it's possible to use a writing pad or a radical system but I have neither and would love a recommendation of what to start with.

Welcome to CPod. We look forward to seeing your questions and comments on the discussion boards.

To write in Chinese, please check out Google Pinyin. The page is all in Chinese, but all you have to do is click on the blue box and install. You simply type pinyin and then convert to Chinese characters.
