oy vey and 哦哟

October 29, 2009 at 01:46 PM posted in General DiscussionI asked this on Twitter, but got no responses. Would you say the meaning of the Yiddish/English "Oy vey" and the Chinese 哦哟 are more or less equivalent? Any nuances of either to be aware of?

“哦哟”，普通话里也没有。
这是真的吗？《现代汉语词典》里有“哎哟”，而且这个词不带“方言”的标注。我好想在哪听过东北人说“哎哟”，但不知道北京人是否用这个“有中国特色”的感叹词。我估计你是个北京人，因为你的图像里的背景就是颐和园，对不对？

中国太大了，每个地方的方言都有说不尽的妙处和精彩。如果你要了解辽南（辽宁省南部）的方言，不才可以跟你唠唠，哈哈

richardjk对“哦哟”的解释我觉得很到位，我在上海体会到，它更多的时候用来表示“一种看不起或者是轻视”。我是北方人，在来上海之前从来没有听人用过“哦哟”，普通话里也没有。
在上海可以听到很丰富的语气词，有很强烈的感情色彩。
