January 11, 2010, 03:29 PMrj, I did not realize that the review now contains all of the files. Although it's very handy to have all of those individual files on the ready, at least I can edit the review file to capture them for listening comp practice.
I'm pretty good at cutting and editing using an old Cool Edit Pro software, but it takes a lot of time to do the editing. If I am studying a particular lesson, for example, I will sweep up all of the little files for that lesson into one file, slowing them down about 10 percent. I repeat them 3 times, with plenty of silence in between, then make a CD for the car and listen and practice practice practice. Making the file to suit my needs, however (slow learner, old slow brain)takes time.
The addition of that .html file a while ago has really helped save time. I've been wanting them to include the pinyin with the expansion sentences. I guess we never have enough! ;)

January 12, 2010, 12:29 PMYes, it does indeed seem to be completely broken now. Is anyone working on this or what?

January 12, 2010, 01:25 PMThat sucks !!
WLCP was extremely useful for my purposes in downloading the expansion sentences to my IPOD ..................

January 12, 2010, 01:40 PMUsing a pod catcher for the first time (gpodder), it "failed" several times. Restarting picked up the missing pieces.
Maybe simply increasing the time allowed to accept the login, corresponding to the delay I see in my browser, would help wlcpod.

January 12, 2010, 02:00 PMokay guys, i have the solution, the thing is that the program is working as before, there isnt any problems with that, only u have to delete from:
wlcpod_netops.py
the lines 64 to 70 from the begining if to sys.exit()
this is the block that quites the program, if u dont have a message in the logged in page ('singout'), dont understand exactly. So everything works fine, only this block not after changes on the homepage.

ajaja, you are a HERO!!! Xie4xie4!!! I first saved the original file in a new name (wlcpod_netopsOLD.py) and made the change in the original as you stated. Yes it works. I used the EditPadPro text editor. Don't know if this matters or not. Huge thanks to you!

Same here. Someone needs to adopt WLCP. All the programmers are MIA.
You do realize that now cpod does recite all the expansion sentences in the lesson review file. This used to only contain some of them. I do like wlcp because I can play each expansion twice with a pause between and print out a doc that contains hanzi, pinyin, literal translation, and english for follow along if and when needed. This works well for Ipod walk abouts.
Anyway it seems to be completely broken now.

January 13, 2010, 04:04 AMTal, it seems to have worked for me but that doesnt solve the mp3 file problem. Can somebody tell me how to fix this:
The collective mp3 files created for the expansion sentences, dialogues, and vocab look ok, but when played you only hear the first sentence. (It should play them all twice with a pause between them.) WLCP still works fine for older lessons but recent lessons containing a new mp3 filename format do not work. The last ele lesson to work properly is "are you free" (#1215).

January 13, 2010, 04:34 AMRJ, those files appear to work with the wlcp shockwave player, i.e., from the wlcp html page in firefox. They don't appear to work in windows media player. Maybe chinesepod has changed the software they use to produce these mp3, so when wlcp stitches them together, windows media player chokes. You could try loading one into audacity (freeware) and reencoding it as mp3. Or you could try decoding it with lame (to wav) and then reencoding it with lame. Perhaps you can try using iTunes to convert the mp3 file to aac, and then back to mp3. I've had trouble playing chinesepod mp3 files before, and lame worked for me. I just tested the Christmas Dinner file in Foobar and it played. This raises the possibility of using Foobar to convert the file to wav, and then convert the resulting file to mp3 (via lame), and from there to your portable player. If you are running off you computer, you can just use foobar.

January 13, 2010, 02:10 PMThe older ones use a sampling rate of 22.05Khz. The newer ones, with "prototype" in the name, are at 44.1Khz. Stitched together, even MPlayer doesn't play it right.
The fix would be to resample/reencode until they're all the *same* before stitching together. You'll lose some audio quality though, you know.
(I'm not sure which lessons you're looking at. The info above is from the files in Newbie Intro 1.)

January 13, 2010, 02:13 PMIn the line after the ones he says to delete, is a line with a "timeout" set at 5. I deleted the lines, and set that timout to 10. I don't know if that will fix it for you, or that it actually fixed anything. But, this worked for me.

January 14, 2010, 07:56 PMI loaded christmas_dinner_expansion_sentences into audacity, then exported it out to mp3. This caused audacity to reencode the file. The resulting file played for me where the original would not.
Audacity is at audacity.sourceforge.net. I used version 1.3 beta. Instructions on setting up audacity to use lame is wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Lame_Installation.

January 26, 2010, 10:25 AMI forgot to mention that ajaja's fix has recently been working fine for me, (belated thanks!), but as of today the software seems to be broken again!
Can only be the lovely new CSS changes right? (Don't even know what CSS means to be honest, but it seems to be all about some big change to the site.)
Anyone having problem downloading? Anyone have another ingenious fix?

January 13, 2010, 03:49 AMI've tried deleting those lines (I think I got the right ones, they're not actually numbered are they?) and tried downloading a lesson. Logged in OK, and I think I got the jpg and maybe the HTML, but got about 2 dozen socket timed out errors when trying to get the audio files. As this has NEVER happened before, I can only assume the prog is still not working as it should.
Glad I backed up the old version of wlcpod_netops.py though, so I can at least have it not working in the orthodox manner.

January 11, 2010, 01:13 PMUnfortunately I am having this problem as well withthe lates lesson moving-in-together. Oh gosh I hope this is not going to continue. I really rely on those little audio files that we can't get otherwise.
