Upper-intermediate ~ Going to Wudang Mountain (1319)

Wow!  This is the first one I have done, and I must say, I might stick to intermediate levels for awhile after this.  It isn't that I couldn't handle it.  It's just that it was a bit too long and tedious.  That said, I was amazed to see how much I learned from this.  For example, I had no idea that I xometimes have trouble distinguishing between 就是 and 只是, although now I think I got it.

Anyway, here it is, mistakes and all (and I do apologize for the mistakes).  I hope the format is acceptable.

辛苦了辛苦了!Yep, some masochism if you have it in you helps in these undertakings. I agree that about 8 minutes or so would be perfect, double that is pretty long.
You might ask others to share with you too, if there's an Upper Inter or Advanced lesson you really want to do.

I find that I have trouble with 这是 and 就是.

You know, the only reason I didn't choose an intermediate lesson is that I didn't want to spend a lot of time transcribing English, but now I figure transcribing a bit of English would be a nice little break after doing a difficult Chinese line.

Wow xiaophil, 干得好, and thanks very much! Great to see you having a go!

You know as with many things, the first time is the hardest! When I first tried my hand at this, I thought the tedium would kill me. I learned so much from doing it though, and after I'd done a few more, it became kind of routine!

These days I rarely get the time unfortunately. I'm hoping to put another UI podcast in during this 春节 holiday though.

Thanks for providing the forum.

As for this:

"You know as with many things, the first time is the hardest! When I first tried my hand at this, I thought the tedium would kill me. I learned so much from doing it though, and after I'd done a few more, it became kind of routine!"

I almost made a post about all the little tricks I learned, but then I figured everyone who does this has already settled on their own way.

Hey dude, that's a great idea, do it! It might well be illuminating.

Mm, I'm intrigued. And would not mind being shown that I'm doing everything the long and stupid way.

Okee dokee then. I will see if I can rig something up to show you guys tomorrow. I might not have time, but I should.

Not that it is terribly important, but I discovered that the link I made was not ideal.  The currently linked page should look much cleaner.

That's cool xiaophil, I really like the way you link to the lesson itself and the UI lesson list in the title. Jeez, why did I never think of doing that? unhappy smileys

Think I'm gonna have to take a leaf or two out of your book dude!

No problemo, mate! Take as many leaves out as you want. Without you, there wouldn't be a book ;-).

I'm working on the 郑和 lesson. As an advanced lesson, it's hard. But I particularly like it because Suzhou doesn't talk to us, at least I don't think he does, like we are foreigners. It's the real deal.

I like this lesson in particular because old sea voyaging stories always intrigue me. Perhaps it's my partial English heritage?

Just yesterday I was reading about how Charles Darwin was as sick as a dog during his voyage on The Beagle, and he was as English as they come! (Hmm... great idea there for a lesson perhaps?)

As for me my head spins if I get my feet wet!

I do love tales of the sea though, I'll be watching out for your transcription!
