Do you know what level you're at? If not, try the assessment test (Tools->Tests->Placement Tests). You can choose if you want the test in characters or pinyin before you start. This will tell you what level to start listening to.
If you're brand new, start with some newbie lessons. There is no set order to pick any one and go for it.
There are many things that can be done with a single lesson. I usually listen over and over until I can hear the correct tones and pronunciation and understand the entire dialog. It'sdefinitely worth your time to memorize the dialog (as this lady will attest to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6f237bj1hkI).
