October 13, 2009, 11:33 AM你好Trevor,
这句话可以这么说:
“我是英国人,我喜欢聊天气”。(或者:我喜欢聊关于天气的话题)
话题=topic.
Hope that helps!

A quick question to do with tenses (which chinese does not have).
I was listening to the lesson about hot water and Ken said something about being brought hot water instead of cold I was thinking about what I might say.
In english that might be "oh sorry I wanted cold water"
closest I could get in chinese was
不好意思,我要冷水。
would that be right? In literal english translation it sounds to me to be exceptionally rude...!

September 13, 2009, 03:12 PM你好Trevor,
“里”和“内"这两个词都可以用在名词后,表示处所,时间和范围。
They both can be used in after a noun to indicate location, time and range/scope.
When they are used after a noun to indicate time, 内 is more like 'within' in english. They are mostly interchangeable.
Hope that helps.

November 30, 2009, 03:40 AM你好Trevor,
你的周末过得怎么样啊?
你说得对,“可我只有一百块钱”这个句子里的“可”是 “可是”的“可”。意思是 but.
“你这是假的” is a colloquial shortening. 全句可以这样说: “ 你的这张钱是假的”。
coins 的中文是 “硬币”。
Hope that helps!
明天见!

请问在 office policy他们用 ”工作时间内” 为什么不用”里”
I'm used to seeing li used to mean inside with things like cars, homes etc but have only encountered Nei with respect to internal strength i.e a more theoretical concept. Are they interchangeable or completely different in meaning?
