如果我想跟中国人说话，跟男人（我不认识他）说 《先生》，跟年轻的女人说 《小姐》， 但是跟不太年轻的女人我说什么？说 《女士》 行不行？

你好

跟不太年轻的女人，你可以说“女士”。但是在中国，很少这样说，因为太正式了（it's too formal）。

如果遇到和你年纪差不多的，说“你好”就可以了。

如果遇到比你年纪大很多的人，特别是老人，叫他“大爷”或者“叔叔”（男的），叫她“阿姨”（女的）。

比如要说 “I know this sentence” 我能说“我知道这个（？）句子”吗？

你好，“I know this sentence” 你可以说“我知道这个"

我知道他，I know him(just know who he is)

我认识他  I am acquainted with him(you know where he is from, who are his parents.....)

see the difference? 

认识 can mean "to recognize",  indicates that you are able to identify a particular person or thing.

我认识这个汉字。

我认识这种花。

hi, the most common word for “beginner" is 新手。

Dear 吟雪,

I just want to mention - before our talk on Monday - that the next time afterwards will be on April 12! A long time ... But is there a chance that we might meet in Shanghai? I'll arrive Monday 22, leave Sunday 28 evening (to Xi'an) and I'm probably free in the mornings and evenings (not Friday evening).
