Hi Lily,

I wanted to ask you if you had any recommendations for learning how to write Chinese characters.  I can recognize some characters, but I can barely write 中文, and when I do, my students tell me my stroke order is wrong. 

Any advice?

Hi Lily,

I will be heading back to the US for the holiday in February.  I'll end up spending a few days in Shanghai to catch my flight. 

For next month's lesson plan, can we spend some time on lessons that will help me get around Shanghai?  Things like hotels, taxis, subways, and airports?

Hi Dan,

I don't think you need to worry about the stroke order, because we Chinese always make mistakes on stroke order. I think the first step is trying to remember the basic shape and some radicals. Take it easy, the commenly used characters are very limited in Chinese, don't worry about that.

Dear Lily,

Tonight is Christmas Eve, and I will be going to a Christmas dinner.  I will have to cancel our lesson. 

Because Thursday classes so often need to be cancelled, maybe we should see if there is an other time that works better.  We can talk about our schedule later.

I have quit my job and left China.  I'm sorry I haven't been in contact with you, but I've been very busy looking for a new job.

I still intend to study Chinese on ChinesePod, and I would like to know when you would have time to reschedule our class.  I am 13 hours behind China time (Easter Standard Time).
