Note on Lesson Comments
John
April 15, 2010, 07:27 AM posted in General DiscussionDear ChinesePod Users:
The final step of the dashboard/groups switchover is to optimize the database queries. Displaying the latest lesson comments is an intensive operation, so we have delayed the display of the newest lesson comments on the Community page and the dashboard page. For the time being, you will see new user posts, but not new lessons comments on these two pages (even though they are there, and you can post new ones).
Thank you for your patience as we restore full functionality; we are doing this as a precaution to minimize downtime and reduce risk of our server crashing.
Thanks!
John

April 15, 2010, 08:37 AMI really hope things return to a normal look soon, I did a bit of a double-take when I logged in today. I had no idea what was going on..
Moving forward is great.. and I've lived through a few of the changes already.. but I really don't like change.. haha :)

April 15, 2010, 09:14 AMNot sure what you mean by "normal look," but the lesson comments will be back very soon.
Sorry you don't like change, but in the long run, I feel confident you're going to be enjoying most of these improvements.

April 16, 2010, 01:01 AMIf we "leave" a group, will we still receive podcasts from that group. I would like to receive elementary, advanced, and media podcasts, but I probably won't be doing much in the discussion sections for those groups. So, I would 'leave' those groups if I will still receive those podcasts as I do now.
I'm not sure how it's all going to parse out, so I'm giving this some time to see
Thanks , jan

You will always be able to access lessons of any level in the "Lessons" tab. If you leave a level group you will no longer be receiving lessons in the "lessons feed" on your homepage. Of course, if you want to remain in a group, there's nothing forcing you to participate in conversations. In fact, many people are a part of groups and sometimes read the conversations, but don't actively participate themselves. It's up to you!
