刚才我们说过的两个词是：

1. 上大学 to go to the college.

你女儿的很多朋友要去上大学了。

2. 放假

在中国，学校快要放暑假了。（shu3jia4= summer holiday）

是的，今天的毕业的聚会挺热闹。太多菜，很多人!

我想问你： Is there a special word for the student leaving home and moving away to go to college?  I think 搬家 perhaps isn't specific enough.
  再说， 这个大学生肯定常常回家!

哦，你可以说”住校“。不过这个意思是说学生一定是在学校宿舍里住的。

在美国，大学生也可以在外面自已租房子住的，对吧？

没错，在美国的大学生可以住外面自己租房子。但是有的大学需大学生第一年在宿
舍住。在中国，大学生可以住外面自己？

在中国，一般来说，大学生都是需要住校的。但也有少数学生有可能在外面自已租房子住。因为他们觉得在外面住比在学校宿舍自由。
