I watched the beginning and saved it to watch tomorrow. Looks to have some good easy language as it's mostly school kids.

October 11, 2007, 05:37 AMI read the article about this last week at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7030725.stm and came away with a different conclusion. There's manipulation and bribery, and that's how the winner won.

October 11, 2007, 10:52 PMI didn't know that the character 正 is used to count things like votes, every stroke is 1 and 1 character is 5. So 正正正 is 15. :)

October 14, 2007, 12:48 PMThis will be showing tonight at 21h10 central European Time on BBC World. I'm not sure I'll be able to see it, but would love to as it looks really interesting. Here is the trailer, which I found over on Youtube:

October 14, 2007, 07:30 PMThe why democracy initiative looks impressive. I haven't yet gotten my head around their motives. Maybe, I am a bit too sceptic and always have the old "Cui bono?" in mind. Strangely, I just saw a book asking if democracy becomes unjust in the face of globalisation.

October 14, 2007, 10:51 PMI wonder if this video is really in favor of democracy. It only shows the drifts not the useful return. One of the children even speaks of the danger to bring dictatorship at the head of the class. Where does it come from ???
