At a time when the functionality of the site is frankly just okay at best, the lesson content remains at a very high standard. I want to applaud ChinesePod for keeping up the good work.

February 27, 2011, 06:21 AMI can't post for the life of me on this site - what am I doing wrong? I have tried posting from the front page and the Community tab. I'm testing posting from an old post.

Bodawei, about 90% of the time when I try to initiate a new post in the General Discussion I can type it but as soon as I hit the button to upload it just freezes. I have no issues at all with replying to existing posts (lesson discussions, general discussions, etc), I just have trouble initiating a thread. I have tried my work laptop, my personal laptop, my iPad - all to no avail, except for the odd 10% of the time when it lets me. Probably a good thing I can't initiate General Discussion posts otherwise I'd too easily get distracted from studying ;-)

I haven't been having any trouble and just tried a test post to make sure it was still working and it went through fine here:

From memory there is more than one way to start a post so it may be that one of the other routes is broken. I just go on community, posts, write a new post. If you try this way and still have problems let me know and I'll see if I can spot the problem. Good luck mate :)

I just tried to post the way you indicate but it does not work. I tried I think four times today - like Chris says above I have had both success and failure in the past, but lately I can't get any to stick. I keep wondering do my posts stay somewhere in the ChinesePod system, can they be recovered? They always give me the green light 'your post has been successful' or whatever, but do not show up anywhere. No problems with comments, replies etc., just initiating a comment.

This may be a silly question, but just to double check....when you are composing your post, under the title of the post you are clicking on the drop down list under community group to select "general discussion" aren't you?

I always carefully select 'General Discussion'. I have actually made quite a few posts in the past, there were always hits and misses, now it is all misses. Something pretzl said about software may be the key. I just need to find it.
