成- it's use

Hi there.  I've come across this sentence and would like to know what the function of 成 is?

能不能把双人间换成南的呢？

Does it indicate change into a south-facing room?

you are right,成means change into here. but i don't quite understand this sentence.I think you missing one word 朝then the sentence make sense. 能不能把双人间换成朝南的呢？ because 双人间 is noun and 南 is adv. you can say 能不能把双人间换成单间呢？but don't say 能不能把双人间换成南的呢？ it will make people confused.

Also, the  "把...." grammar structure can help you idetify the fuction of what 成 is doing in the sentence.

I did drop the "朝"from the sentence as I realized the next sentence that followed was: 我喜欢朝南的房间.
