I can't add a comment to the other thread for some reason, and the previous thread looks like it was truncated. A bug got into that posting perhaps? Or is it just me?

Anyway, this, if it works, is following on from

Colin Jacobs, the author of Hanzi Helper, is a fellow cpoddie who wrote the program for his personal use and decided to share it with others who might find it useful. Sniff around the Forum, he's been pretty active there (as coljac) and there is at least one long thread on Hanzi Helper on the forum. I seem to recall Colin discussing there the problems with exporting (from anything!) to Dragon, and other interesting things. If you're using the program, don't forget to try Reminder, the little program that comes with it. I think it's great. You'll hear me saying that, too, over at the Forum where it's all laid out for you. Colin might even hear and jump in with a comment. (Let me try that URL again) This is a comment continuing on from http://chinesepod.com/connections/viewpost/calkins/connect/Hanzi+Helper+%26+PlecoDict

My comment on the previous thread truncated at the point where I had a hyperlink and then all heck broke lose. I think I forgot to close my double quotes around the URL. Sorry everyone. That's what I get for trying to be fancy.

Don't apologise too much. People like you are born software improvers, able to find the tiniest problem without even looking for it. A rare talent indeed :-) And thanks to your observant report, whatever the glitch is it can be looked at and fixed now. Um... just don't try it again, eh? ;-)

I wrote the following reply to Boran from the original thread....before realizing it was broken. ____________________________________ That's the same problem I was having. I was able to export it as a .txt file and transfer it to my old Palm. I could open the dataset in Dragon, but some functions worked, some didn't. I think Dragon is a great little application, I wonder why it's gone dormant for over a year now. Maybe I'll send an e-mail to the developer....I know he was posting comments on the forum over a year ago. I would definitely pay for it, if that was the issue. It'll be interesting to see how Pleco verson 2.0 handles writing characters and stroke order. If it's anywhere near as good as Dragon, then (for me) Dragon would become obsolete. Aside from a few things that could be improved, I really like Hanzi Helper. Every time I do a new lesson, I copy the vocabulary into a HH dataset (one for Newbie and one for Elementary). My main goal is to be able to transfer the data to Pleco and Dragon, but it's also just another way to reinforce the vocabulary, especially when typing the pinyin. I think that to be able to get CPod vocabulary into the Palm, would really bring my studies full circle. I know it's possible, so I'm looking forward to figuring it out. The end of your post was cut off, so I'm not sure what your comparison question was.
