Ok, here's the lowdown on the de-conundrum:

The particle 的:

is used for modifiying nouns, for example in the following phrases 我的书 (possesive: MY book wo3 de shu1), 车的速度 (the car'S speed - che1 de su4du4), 很便宜的 (very cheap car - hen3 pian1yi de che1),他喜欢的书 (the book THAT he likes - ta1 xi3huan de shu1), 卖东西的人 (the people WHO sell things - mai4 dong1xi de ren2), 谁的书? (whose book? - shei2 de shu1)

Adverbial modifiers use 地:

verb modifier + de + verb

慢慢地吃 (eat slowLY - man4man4 de chi1); 留心地听妈妈说话 (listen attentiveLY to the mother - liu2xin1 de ting1 ma1ma shuo1hua4)

得 is a little more intricate:

- it indicates the MANNER of an action, f.e.  他说的清楚 (he speaks very CLEARLY - ta1 shuo1 de qing1chu), 咱们考试考得非常好(we did extremely WELL on the test - zan2men kao3shi4 de fei1chang2) or 他开车开得怎么样? (How does she drive? = What is the manner of her driving? - ta1 kai1che1 kai1 de zen3meyang4)

- also used for comparisons , e.g 他和我吃得一样多(he eats as much as me - ta1 he2 wo3 chi1 de yi1yang4)

I hope I could help you.
